Purpose of a Chemical Peel
A chemical peel is used to improve and smooth the texture of skin. It improves the appearance of skin, and is great as an anti-aging regimen, anti-wrinkle, skin resurfacing, skin rejuvenation, uneven skin tone and can decrease the appearance of acne scarring.
During a chemical peel the face is cleansed, a chemical solution is applied to the skin, and usually followed by an activator causing a slight “sun burn” feeling. The application of the solution is applied 1-3 times depending on the product and client tolerance. The peel usually works over a few days when it sloughs off; this process is different for everyone and can range from a light frosting to a peel like that of sun burnt skin. During the peeling process it is recommended that clients apply a moisturizer and not pick at the skin.
Chemical peels range in intensity and can be offered as medical grade peels at which point a medical provider performs the chemical peel.
Chemical peels help with:
-fine lines and wrinkles including crows feet, marionette lines
-acne scarring or other facial scarring
-uneven skin tone or issues with hyperpigmentation
-age spots and freckles
Chemical peels are great to include in your skin care regimen and improve your appearance. They are an excellent tool for skin resurfacing and rejuvenation, especially for clients concerned with aging and acne.
